The heart behind the art

I am Louise, the creator of AOSÄM.
My life is a dedicated exploration of the Art of Sound and Movement, shaped by dance, music, and listening.

The unfolding

My journey has been a lifelong dialogue between the physical and the sonic, a convergence born from over a decade of professional dance, Pilates, music production, and sound therapy.

From the body as my first teacher to sound as my companion, and through my evolution into an electronic music producer and qualified sound therapist, I have always believed that art is the primal language of the soul.

As my path unfolded across places and practices, it eventually led me to the landscape of Portugal, where this work could settle, and reach its deepest expression.

The present moment

The present moment is where I weave together all the threads of my experience: the rhythmic pulse of the club, the sacred resonance of ancient instruments, and the intuitive wisdom of the moving body.

Whether I am guiding a meditative sound journey, producing shamanic house, or holding space for somatic exploration in The Felt Space, my calling is the same...

To create a sacred sanctuary where sensation and self dissolve into a single, profound expression.

Through motherhood and a deep commitment to the art of letting go, I have found a new level of grounding and joy.

I invite you to join me in this space of curiosity and connection where we treat movement and sound not just as tools for wellbeing, but as a living, breathing art form.

The Art of Sound

The Art of Sound is a living bridge between ancient resonance and modern innovation.

A practice where healing vibration meets contemporary rhythm, and sound is felt as deeply as it is heard.

By weaving the tones of Tibetan bowls, chimes, and the monochord with the pulse of electronic music, I create immersive sonic tapestries, layered journeys that move between stillness and propulsion.

From meditative soundscapes to the driving energy of shamanic and progressive house, my work invites both grounding and expansion.

In live productions, deep bass meets ethereal vocals. The body is called into motion. The spirit is given space to unfold. Sound becomes a threshold... something to inhabit rather than observe.

My Soul Soundtrack

Music has always been my first language.

A primal pulse felt at a cellular level, long before it became a practice or a profession. At fifteen, when I first picked up a guitar, I understood that sound was not simply a passion, it was a necessity. That moment opened a lifelong exploration of how we move, how we feel, and how we express what cannot be spoken.

My path unfolded across disciplines. Six years as a professional contemporary dancer shaped my understanding of rhythm as something that lives inside the body. During that time, I began experimenting with loop pedals, layering voice and guitar to build my first electronic landscapes.

Later, in the vibrant energy of London, I immersed myself in the world of Progressive and Organic House, falling in love with the deep grooves and basslines that moved my spirit.

Seeking something more tangible, I began recording the natural world, integrating field recordings with the sacred frequencies of sound healing instruments. Tibetan bowls, chimes, the monochord... sound became both material and medicine.

Drawn to the depth of groove and basslines
that carried both weight and release.

The Warrior Within: RUÏHA

In 2020, I began producing under the name RUÏHA. As the Māori name for Louise, it means "Warrior", a title that defines the energy behind my sound. This name serves as the bridge to my electronic work, where deep tribal rhythms and organic textures meet ancestral chants.

Inspired by the raw pulse of the earth, RUÏHA is the driving force that explores the strength in a heavy bassline and the momentum of a tribal beat. She provides a powerful counterpoint to my ambient stillness, turning the sounds of the soil into a direct call for the body to move.

The Soul Settles

In 2022, in my search for stillness, I found my true home in Portugal. This is a place where listening deepens, and where sound and movement no longer need to be held apart. In this settling, challenges became fluid textures rather than obstacles, shaping strength, clarity, and direction through lived experiences.

Now, my life and my art are inseperable.

Whether I am crafting ambient soundscapes, playing a shamanic tribal house set, or dancing in the kitchen with my partner and our son, music remains the heartbeat of my home and my work. Motherhood and the art of letting go have grounded my creativity, refining what truly matters.

From this integration comes a simple offering.

Step into a space of genuine connection, and experience sound and movement as a living art.

I am now weaving all of the threads together. Through AOSÄM, I share this work through music production, sound journeys, group experiences, and live performance - an ongoing invitation to listen, move, and connect.

Art of Movement

The Felt Space is a journey into the body’s wisdom.

It is a playful space for curiosity, where we move beyond the repetitive motions of daily life to rediscover a more expressive way of being.

By combining visualization with deep sensory awareness, the body is invited to release tension and find a natural flow, sensing its way through space rather than following a routine.

My journey began at five, falling in love with the rhythms of Tap, and later finding my true home in Contemporary Dance.

During my training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, I discovered the power of improvisation and release. My body softened in this process of exploration, learning how movement felt rather than how it looked.

For me, movement has never been a chore.

It is how I survive, my therapy, and a way of returning to myself
when the mind grows loud.

This inside-out approach has guided my work for over thirteen years.

Through my life as a professional dancer, my work as a Pilates teacher, or my deep studies in Somatic Movement and Authentic Movement, one principle has remained constant: the connection between mind and body.

In this space, the focus shifts away from external performance and toward internal experience. Through a blend of emotional and physical prompts, we awaken forgotten parts of ourselves and open new pathways of expression.

Whether exploring the quiet power of a small movement or the release of a bold, expansive gesture, the work is about developing a personal movement language.

I invite you into this feeling space, a place to slow down, connect deeply, and reclaim a joyful, artistic relationship with your physical self.

The Felt Space

Stepping into a session is an act of leaving the "busyness" of the world at the door. It is an invitation to transition from the head down into the heart, guided by a curated landscape of Movement, sound, and stillness.

The Arrival

The Felt Space is not defined by walls or place. It exists wherever attention softens and the body is allowed to arrive.

As sessions begin, you are met with the soft hum of an ambient soundscape, perhaps the distant ring of a chime or a low, grounding electronic pulse.

This is your time to arrive. There is no pressure to perform or "know" what to do. You begin by simply being, finding your place on the mat, and allowing your breath to catch up with your body.

The Journey of Sound

The experience is anchored by a sonic tapestry that evolves with you. You may feel the raw, organic vibration of a Tibetan bowl resonating near your chest, or the delicate harmonic layers of the monochord unfolding around you.

As the session deepens, these ancient tones may weave into a deep, melodic bassline or a shamanic rhythm, grounding you into the earth while allowing the spirit to feel spacious and expansive.

My voice moves gently through these layers, acting as a thread that keeps you connected to the present moment.

In The Felt Space, movement is guided by curiosity.

You are invited into prompts that awaken imagination.

The Language of Movement

In The Felt Space, movement is guided by curiosity. You are invited into prompts that awaken imagination, perhaps the sensation of water moving through the joints, or the feeling of breath expanding the skin.

Here, we move beyond the “shoulds” of exercise. You may find yourself in the quiet subtlety of a micro-movement, or in the joyful release of a larger expression.

It becomes a dialogue between sound and body: the music moves you, and the body responds in its own unique, expressive language.

The Return to Stillness

Space is held for sensation to settle and integrate.

Every session concludes with a return to stillness. As the music fades into a quiet resonance, you are given space to simply feel.

This is where the work integrates, where the tension you released makes room for a new sense of clarity. You leave the session not just feeling "better," but feeling more like yourself: grounded, expressive, and deeply connected to the art of your own existence.
